About Me

My path to becoming a therapist is one that unfolded rather organically.  From an early age it was reflected back to me that I was easy to talk to and a good listener.  At the time, I didn't really understand what the big deal was but was struck by how impacted people seemed to be when they were given space to talk about their experiences.  It wasn't until I entered my own therapy, in response to challenging life circumstances, that I began to understand the profound healing that can occur when we feel witnessed, attended to, and emotionally attuned with.  It was through this process that I discovered my natural pull towards healing work, both personally and professionally.

I believe the best way of assessing for fit is to share space, to meet in person.  Experiencing how one feels in the presence and holding of another is one of the most effective ways of determining whether it's a good match.  Friends, colleagues and clients have described me as easy to connect with, deeply empathic, non-judgmental, real, and an ally.

Education & Experience

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University in 2003.  Following a short break from academia I returned to my alma mater and received my Master's Degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2007.  Born and bred in the Bay Area, I am deeply rooted in the East Bay and am excited and grateful to be practicing in Oakland.

I have many years of experience providing school-based psychotherapy to adolescents at various high schools in Richmond, Berkeley, and Marin.  I completed an intensive 3-year training program at the Women's Therapy Center, in Berkeley, where I sharpened my skills working with a diverse population of women, adolescents and couples.
